The primary purpose of the Wyoming Information Analysis Team (WIAT) is to collect, analyze, and disseminate criminal intelligence and provide support to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies pertaining to the state of Wyoming pursuant to W.S. 9-1-627 and 28 CFR Part 23. A major goal of WIAT is to identify, document, and disseminate criminal intelligence concerning persons involved in organized crime, terrorist groups, and those crimes involving multi-jurisdictional or serial crimes.

The WIAT works closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement, as well as the U.S. Attorney's Office, Wyoming Office of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Wyoming National Guard Counterdrug, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. WIAT members are stationed in Cheyenne and in the Regional Enforcement Offices located in Rock Springs, Casper, Riverton, Sheridan and Gillette.
The WIAT provides exceptional support to local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies through information sharing, intelligence support, and technical assistance through the use of multiple databases and analytical tools. Our services include products to assist in the development of comprehensive analysis packages to further investigations and preparation for court and prosecution presentations, situational awareness bulletins, and other intelligence support products tailored to the investigator's needs.
