Circumstances of Case
On June 4th, 1980 at about 3:00 A.M. a vehicle driven by a Salt Lake City man was shot at numerous times by two unknown Hispanic males near Bunning Park in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Sixty-five year old Lee Romero, a passenger in the car was struck in the neck by one of the bullets and died as a result of his injuries.
According to the driver of the victim vehicle, the two Hispanic suspects were seated in the front and rear passenger seats of a gray and maroon Chevrolet Monte Carlo or similar car, driven by a blonde female. The suspect vehicle pulled along side the victim’s car and fired several rounds. The suspect’s vehicle then left the scene and was last seen driving south on Elk Street. The vehicle nor its occupants were ever identified.
This photo depicts a 1979 Chevrolet Monte Carlo similar to the suspect vehicle described by witnesses. The exact color combination of gray and maroon is not known and this photo is for reference only.
