Fingerprint Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS): is a computer system which digitizes unknown latent fingerprints entered into the AFIS system, searches the unknown latent fingerprint against millions of prints on file to generate candidate lists for comparison. The State of Wyoming is a member of the Western Identification Network (WIN/AFIS) that is comprised of the member states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. A latent fingerprint search can be conducted against the criminal and civil records of each of these states.
